My Stuff
Ok, so I have to admit that I have become sort of a gear head.
Guitars
- 2001 Gibson Les Paul Standard Gold-top.
- 1996 Gibson Les Paul Special.
- 1995 Gibson ES 335.
- 2010 Gibson SG Standard 60’s.
- 2008 Fender American Standard Telecaster.
- 2012 Fender FSR Ash Butterscotch Telecaster.
- 2007 Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster.
I also still have my retired and semi-broken Gibson Sonex 180 (signed by Gang of Four) and my old ESP Frankenstrat. I use 11-49s.
Amps
- Mesa Lone Star “Classic” (original 1×12 combo, converted to a head)
- Mesa Lone Star Special 1×12 combo
- Mesa Mini Rectifier 25
- Mesa TransAtlantic 15
- Marshall 2204 50 watt JCM800 half stack (since Engine 88)
- Vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb
- Egnater Tweaker 15 head
- Too many 1×12 and 2×12 cabinets
I seem to like Mesa/Boogie amps quite a bit. Locavore thing, I guess.
Effects
Lots of Barber Electronics and Fulltone. MXR is sneaking back into the fold too.

The Current Rig
It’s all about The Buttah, baby!
Hey Damon – “Clean Your Room” is still my favorite record of all time. I was fortunate to see Engine 88 once live (Stork Club, I think). The sound from that JCM 800 blew me away. I played a Strat through a Twin Reverb back then, but had no idea how good a guitar could sound. My cousin turned me on to you guys, and I told him, “Man, do I need a new rig.” Thanks for the gear breakdown. – Jeff.
Yes, that moment when you realize you need a Marshall. Mine was the first time I saw Jawbreaker. Thanks for the comment, Jeff, it’s good to know CYR is still rattling windows out there.
